Issues focused on whether development can jump start the London economy and if so, what do councils and developers need to do and whether politics will get in the way.

    Councillor Peter John OBE – Chair of London Councils and Leader of Southwark Council. First elected to Southwark Council in 2002 and Leader in 2010, Peter John has enacted progressive pragmatic policies on council house building, regeneration and public health in Southwark. He was elected Chair of London Councils in 2018.

    Stephen Hammond MP - A long standing political figure in London, Stephen Hammond MP has represented Wimbledon for 14 years. He was previously the Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party for London and former Minister of State for Health and Social Care. Before being elected as an MP, Mr Hammond served on Merton Council as Deputy Leader for the Conservative Party.

    Joanna Rowelle - Director at Arup, Joanna leads economic development and regeneration projects linked to infrastructure investment, masterplans and strategic city plans. She also advises city governments on a wide range of topics including infrastructure investment, airport cities, regeneration and economic policy. Prior to joining Arup in 2013, Joanna was the Assistant Director for Regeneration for the Mayor of London. This role included overseeing multiple regeneration programmes across London with a focus on infrastructure including Crossrail, economic development and high streets.

    Martha Grekos – Director and Barrister at her own practice, Martha is a specialist in Planning Law and Policy. She has worked on large complex urban regeneration projects, strategic residential developments and major infrastructure projects. Martha is one of the most influential women in planning (as confirmed by The Planner in 2020). In addition, she is also a Strategic Advisor to the Civil Aviation Authority and sits on the Mayor of London's Infrastructure Advisory Panel.
